Our Summer ‘24 Exhibition ‘Wild Wales’ is fast approaching and we’re delighted to invite you to join us for the preview evening on July 23rd 6-8pm. This is a chance to see (and maybe secure!) some beautiful art before the official opening of the show. The horsebox cafe and main gallery will be open.

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to this email and tell us how many of you there will be, as numbers are limted.

If you can’t make the preview, the exhibition will open to the public on July 24th and continues until August 26th with the following opening hours:

Wednesdays - Saturdays 10 am - 5 pm

Sundays 10 am - 4 pm

The horsebox cafe will be serving tea, coffee and cakes on the front lawn as usual but we can now offer a range of alcoholic beverages, sourced locally in Wales. They include gin and tonics, wines and beers.

All of pieces in the exhibition can be viewed online by clicking here. You can purchase them in advance of the opening by emailing or calling us on 01352 349037.

All work can be bought through an Arts Council of Wales Collectorplan interest-free loan, with repayments spread over as long as 12 months. Please ask us for details.

GUEST ARTIST FOR JULY AND AUGUST

David Evans

Our guest artist in the main gallery this month is contemporary British painter, David Evans.

David Evans is a quirky, idiosyncratic artist with a delightfully sharp sense of childlike joy in the happenings of his creative world.

His brilliant, high-key colours and exuberantly assured oils and watercolours are crisply fresh, radically personal and utterly original. His detailed drawings speak of prodigious imagination, masterly technical ability and a unique visual language laced with a wicked humour.

Evans has been singularly unaffected by passing artistic trends. His is a personal, intimate art - an art honed from decades of experimental drawing and colour work in his art studio in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

His bold techniques are certainly eccentric and chimerical. If you dig deeper there is a toughness underneath the whimsical imagery - an imagery that speaks of considered judgement and above all - a uniquely authentic vision.

NEW SERIES OF PAINTINGS

Dave Roberts

Gallery owner and Pastel Society member, Dave Roberts, will be revealing a new series of paintings of the Clwydian Range and surrounding areas, to coincide with the opening of the Summer Exhibtion.

Dave will also running a ‘Meet the Artist’ event at the gallery on Saturday 27th July where there will be the opportunity for you to discuss his new work. See below for more information.

Meet the Artist Day - July 27th (Saturday)

Meet landscape artist Dave Roberts PS to discuss his new series of work that will be on display in the main gallery. Dave will be in the gallery all day to answer any questions you have about his work, his painting process or life as an artist!

This event is free to attend but ticketed to manage numbers.

‘Celf, Caws a Gwin’ (‘Art, Cheese and Wine’) Afternoon with Erin Lloyd, Potter

August 11th (Sunday) 12 - 3 pm

We’re delighted to invite you to join this special event for Welsh learners to engage in conversation, sample some local produce, all whilst chatting to Erin Lloyd about her wonderful pottery made with magical glazes consisting of natural ochres from the River Corris that flows through Erin’s family’s farm.

Guests will be provided with a list of helpful Welsh words and phrases that can be used around the gallery. Tickets include a glass of Welsh wine (or Welsh coffee/tea) and a selection of Welsh cheeses to try.

This event is ticketed to manage numbers and costs £15 per person.
