Elain Fflur
On display throughout December 2025
“My creative journey began in 2021 at Carmarthen School of Art, where I started my Foundation course. At the time, I wasn’t sure where my passion for art would take me, but I knew I wanted to express myself through some form of creativity. It wasn’t until I was introduced to ceramics that I found my true calling. The tactile nature of the medium and its endless possibilities captured my imagination, and from that moment on, I knew ceramics was where I belonged.
During my final show at CSOA, I was awarded the Dave Clarke Award which was such a honour to have won!
In 2025, I graduated with a BA First Class Honours in Multidisciplinary degree in Ceramics and Jewellery, a path that allowed me to merge my love for both mediums into unique, handmade pieces. Today, I’ve set up my own studio at home, where I continue to explore, create, and share my work with others.”
Elain Fflur is a ceramic artist whose latest collection draws inspiration from the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Alabama and the stained-glass window created in response by John Petts. Each vessel reinterprets elements of Petts’ design, from the negative space of Jesus’ silhouette translated into sculptural handles, to surface details that echo the brushwork and movement within the original window. This dialogue between stained glass and clay continues the ideas first explored in her earlier piece, “The Ceramic Welsh Window”, where we saw the use of her ‘tiny pots’ first. Each carrying its own unique response to this powerful historical and artistic narrative.
