ABOUT
Dave is a professional artist who specializes in pastel land and seascape paintings of North Wales. He is the owner of Oriel Glasfryn Gallery and an extensive selection of his original paintings and prints are on permanent display.
Dave has exhibited across the UK in group and solo exhibitions. His work can be found in private collections across Europe, America and Australia.
In 2024 he was elected as a member of The Pastel Society.
“I was born in Aberystwyth but now live in Flintshire, North Wales. I’ll often go walking at dawn or dusk, when the light is at its most dramatic. Theatrical skies and water feature heavily in my paintings and they are full of vivid colours and detail. Being alone in the mountains, especially in the dark, is one of the most ethereal experiences I know.
I work exclusively in pastels because of the intense colours and effects they produce and because I work them directly on the paper with my fingers, not a brush, I really feel at one with the painting.”
