Morgan Farr
On display throughout October 2025
At just 17yrs of age, local artist Morgan Farr recently launched his career in Ceramics. Having been taught for more than a decade by local Denbighshire ceramicist and Glyndwr University fine arts lecturer, Wendy Lawrence, Morgan has developed a strong style of his own combining influences from both the natural and man-made world to create his unique and striking sculptural pieces.
From a very early age Morgan was drawn to the textures and appearance of natural clays and stoneware, and his home-educated lifestyle provided opportunity to dedicate large periods of time to this passion. Starting formal lessons at just 6 yrs of age gave ample time to develop the necessary skills but also allow for the personal development of his unique style.
Morgan works in heavily grogged stoneware clays that support the natural feel he looks to recreate in his forms, often choosing darker glazes and oxides to provide strong contrasts in his surfaces. He enjoys challenging what is felt ‘possible’ to achieve and loves the opportunity to find solutions that leave us wondering ‘how’.
“I’m incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful area and the Welsh landscape provides so much inspiration for me. There is no better feeling than that gained from overlooking the valleys and mountains of North Wales and just taking in the amazing scenery. When not in the studio creating, I enjoy going out and exploring these beautifully rugged landscapes, sketching and gathering ideas for pieces, some of which are inspired by rock formations and small stones that I collect during my walks. Sometimes, if a stone looks interesting enough, I will make a piece that replicates it’s form entirely, adding vortexes or net like structures to merge with other sources of inspiration”.
