Andy Ball
Studied Fine Art (BA Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University
Until 2017 Andy had worked in the art industry producing works for a variety of contemporary artists and sculptors in London, amongst those included Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, Bill Woodrow, Allen Jones and Sir Anthony Caro.
He has become a lecturer in fabrication and welding and taught design in colleges and higher education establishments across London and the North West.
Since moving to Menai Bridge in 2022, Andy has been creating new work:
“The work I have started to produce is intended for being installed either as wall pieces or freestanding. I draw inspiration from organic forms and the work marries into its natural surrounds. I currently use steel and copper. The steel of the “leaf” frames is treated with a lacquer to maintain a retarding of oxidation but it is intended these will change in time.
The framed pieces incorporating copper are also treated with a wax layer but the patination and oxidation will continue with ageing.”
