Glass Artist

John Mark Fenn is a maker from BAFTA Nominated and Broadcast Award Winner Daytime TV "Make it at Market". He is a glassblower and beekeeper and infuses the honey from his native Welsh Black bees into his glass. His bees are kept deep in the Welsh countryside in ancient fields that he is re-wilding and an orchard of ancient and rare Welsh apple varieties that provides food for the bees.

“There is a natural synergy between glassblowing and beekeeping, from the flowing movements required of the glassblower and the beekeeper to the natural flowing movement of the glass and the honey.”

Mark likes to experiment with different infusions into the glass and has previously used a variety of table sauces in his glass.

"The resulting reaction of each infusion encapsulates and preserves traces from the bees in patterns of bubbles locked into the glass ensuring that each piece is unique".

He is particularly concerned about mankind’s impact upon the natural environment, climate change and the plastic in our oceans, which has inspired the body of work of ‘Sea and Skyscapes’.
