62.5 × 50cm, Acrylic on Canvas
Jon’s painting is a practice of discovery which relies on the building and interplay of layers to create narrative, where life, memory and the abstract coalesce. Paint and collage are disrupted; sanded, scraped and peeled back to reveal traces of what came before. Each piece begins with an openness to possibility, and his work is allowed to unfold organically, even when observation lays the foundation. He lives in the beautiful landscape of Carmarthenshire. His work is mostly created in his garden studio. He trained at the Royal College of Art, London and Carmarthen College of Art.
