Chased Circle Domed Earrings by Rebecca Oldfield

£80.00
A pair of domed sterling silver earrings which have been decorated using the metalworking technique of "chasing". The technique (chasing) is an ancient one - it is where a combination of steel punches, a hammer and a bowl of pine pitch are used to emboss the artists design onto the metal surface. The pitch enables the metal to move under the steel punches therefor no metal is removed to make these impressions unlike engraving. Rebecca's inspirations for these works were found within close examination of organic matter through microscopes. Earring dimensions: 13.5mm diameter These earrings are fastened using butterfly backs.
